A Jewel in His Crown - Ruby

(Orginally posted 7/2/2008)
Updated 2009

6 years ago my daughter Denham was born and died on the same day. We were not expecting her to arrive, but God had another plan.

We were getting ready for a week long vacation (oddly the same vacation this year) when she arrived, but the packing was halted by sharp labor pains and a day later, delivery.

We did not know we were going to have a daughter, so I did not have time before she was born to buy dresses, bows and girlie little things. When I delivered her and heard the nurse say "it's a girl", I was so excited and then remembered, no heartbeat. My sweet baby gril Denham was gone in an instant and then I cried and cried some more.

I miss my little girl .. even today .. 6 years later .. I am glad I got to hold her .. but it does not replace having her here with her earthly family .. having her here with me.

I know she IS with God and I will see her again, but I miss her.
Butterfly kisses my sweet, sweet Denham.

Dear Jai,

I am a co-blogger over on Lysa TerKeurst's site. I was lead to your site, thinking you were someone I knew. I was drawn to read this post because of it's title. It is the title of a Priscilla Shirer book. (You may already know of it) Although you are not the person I thought you were, we have a connection. In 1999, I delivered a stillborn son, Cody. It was a heartwrenching experience. I was 6 1/2 months pregnant and had just found out it was a "healthy baby boy" the week before. My sister-in-law and I were pregnant at the same time, which made it that much harder. The only comfort I found was that I already had two healthy children that God had blessed me with. At any rate, I just wanted to drop you a note. Thanking you for the post. Both of our little children are in Heaven with Jesus.

With all God's love,

Julie B.

I found your blog off of the nesting place blog. I came to look at your mistreatments but was pulled in by all of the other postings. I love your spirit and faith in Jesus. I am impressed with your attitude with the passing of your daughter. A lot of the world would not be so hopeful. I am curious with what religion you are?
A little about myself... I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and know that families can be together forever. I also believe in the power of prayer and at how important it is to teach our children about Heavenly Father and Jesus. I know that your daughter is in heaven with Heavenly Father and Jesus and you will see her again.
Thankyou for your blog and inspiration.
