The original version is by Steve Green. This version by Chonda Pierce and Bonnie Keen.
Everyday they pass me by,
I can see it in their eyes.
Empty people filled with care,
Headed who knows where?
----
On they go through private pain,
Living fear to fear.
Laughter hides their silent cries,
Only Jesus hears.
----
People need the Lord, people need the Lord.
At the end of broken dreams, He's the open door.
People need the Lord, people need the Lord.
When will we realize, people need the Lord?
----
We are called to take His light
To a world where wrong seems right.
What could be too great a cost
For sharing Life with one who's lost?
----
Through His love our hearts can feel
All the grief they bear.
They must hear the Words of Life
Only we can share.
----
People need the Lord, people need the Lord
At the end of broken dreams, He's the open door.
People need the Lord, people need the Lord.
When will we realize that we must give our lives,
For people need the Lord.
----
People need the Lord.

I didn't know Chonda could sing either. I love this song. I'm so glad you joined us. We need to catch up via email. Sorry I haven't been around. It's been crazy. We leave tomorrow for camp. I'll post pics of our new friend soon :-) Hope you guys are all doing well.
Bless you Jai for sharing Steve Green's song...because it is so true that PEOPLE NEED THE LORD!
This was one of the first songs I learned that moved & affirmed my mission work purpose. I saw Steve Green sing in Mpls., MN in Spanish and English...and fell in love!
Other people say they didn't know Chonda could sing, but forgive me, I don't even know her but they did beautiful together! Thank you forthe reminder of not passing anyone by! Blessings!!!
This is a beautiful post!

ps I just wanted to pop over & say "hi" after seeing your post on 5 Minutes for Special Needs. It is so nice to meet other mommies of kids with disabilities and have someone else know what it means to deal with some of this stuff day in and day out. Truly, without faith, i don't think i could do it.
